Classic works in partnership with Local Authorities to make sure children have the best possible opportunities as children continue to need care, love and support with foster families in your borough.
We pride ourselves on the support and training we offer to our carers and children in our care. Carers say they foster for Classic “due to the wonderful training courses and the support and help I get 24 hours a day, I know when I call I can speak with someone who will help me with sorting out any issues I may be having. They also hold great social events for birth and foster children”.
The Agency had their first Ofsted inspection in March 2012 and currently has been inspected again in July 2015, securing three ‘Outstanding’ and one ‘Good’ judgement. This is available upon request and by visiting www.ofsted.gov.uk

We also have access to specialist support when we need it from very experienced childcare workers such as our paediatrician, solicitor, and therapeutic social work staff. All of our foster carers receive regular supervision from their Supervising Social Worker and we pride ourselves in the positive support we give to our carers.

Training and support
In order to fulfil our commitment to you, Classic strive to offer you a high quality, varied and exciting training menu to extend and embrace your professional development.
Training includes compulsory courses and specialist training so you can gain the skills needed to support children and young people to feel safe, develop healthy trusting relationships and succeed in life, these courses are delivered by the Classic Fostering Team who have expertise in specialist areas or external trainers sourced by Classic with a proven track record for training.
Training is offered in groups, face-to-face, online or on a 1-1 basis to best meet your circumstances.
We aim to deliver training at a time to fit in with childcare and other commitments you may have, mornings are usually 10am to 1pm, evenings 6pm to 9pm, full day sessions start at 10am and finish between 3.30pm – 4pm.
Support groups are held regularly, this is a time when foster carers can support each other and offer and receive emotional support and understanding from peers.
External specialists are often invited at carers’ requests to discuss particular themes and subjects.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for foster carers from varying backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities.
Did you know it is possible to carry on working alongside fostering? As long as you can be flexible and attend meetings, facilitate school runs and generally have the time to care for a child, we would love to hear from you.
We recruit single carers, as well as couples, those with children, those without. It’s your skills and qualities that really matter.
We do not expect all of our carers to be able to drive, but it does help. However, if you have a good support network of people around you who can help, and a robust public transport service locally, we would still like you to get in touch!
There are a few practicalities that are essential when considering fostering as follows;
- A spare bedroom
- Time and energy
If you are child-focused, resilient, motivated and committed to changing children and young people’s lives, fostering could be the role for you.
Classic Foster Care is based in Heywood, Rochdale, but we look to recruit foster carers throughout the North West – From Manchester to Kirklees, Tameside to Cheshire.
Fostering is a professional career and when a child is being supported, allowances are paid to enable foster carers to focus on the task and provide what is necessary to the placements they are supporting.
